Human Rights Advocates welcome new Executive Director of United for Human Rights Florida Chapter

CLEARWATER, Fla., June 22, 2017 -- On Wednesday, June 28^th, United for Human Rights, a non-profit organization sponsored by the Church of Scientology, is hosting a reception for all human rights advocates to celebrate their two-year anniversary and welcome Emma Ashton, the newly appointed Executive Director of United for Human Rights Florida Chapter. At 7:00pm partners and friends of United for Human Rights will gather to celebrate two years of successful partnerships, and to welcome Emma into their family. 

In celebration of the two-year anniversary of the Human Rights Center, dozens of educators, organizations and human rights advocates will get to know each other over light refreshments. There have been over 600 partnerships formed in the last two years while Cristian Vargas was holding the Executive Director position. Now, Emma Ashton is taking over the reigns with a vision to take United for Human Rights to the next level.

“I believe that by learning your 30 inalienable human rights, and taking that one step forward to teaching others their human rights, we can safeguard our future generation from the horrific abuses, intolerance and hatred that we see today. Now, more than ever, we must realize that it’s no longer good enough to say you support human rights, but we have to effectively start putting those words into action.” Were the words that Emma Ashton so fervently stated upon being appointed the Executive Director.

Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration. The event starts at 7:00pm, and won’t go past 8:00pm. Cristian Vargas, former Executive Director, will open the event with a welcoming speech and then turn it over to Emma who will introduce herself. Afterwards, everybody is invited to network with each other.

The United for Human Rights (UHR) center features an information area devoted to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the award-winning audiovisual materials of the organization that bring to life all 30 of the Declaration’s articles through public service announcements and informational and informational documentaries.
