Hyundai Mobis, a South Korean car parts company, has teamed up with the US-based Wind River System software company to develop a digital twin-based system for Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). This network will allow automobile manufacturing companies to create and authenticate different car parts and technologies.
The system is set in a digital world, and automakers can also virtually carry out vehicle part testing there. The SDV in the virtual world can also be utilized to illustrate the functions of autonomous driving solutions in an array of scenarios, as per Aju Business Daily.
Hyundai Mobis and Wind River to Build Virtual Testing Ground for Products
The auto parts subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group will work with Wind River to create a digital twin, which is the virtual clone or exact copy of an object or infrastructure set in the digital space. Usually, this is used to test new technologies or other things to determine or see how they will work in real life.
For businesses and companies, the digital twin will help them with testing out their products before releasing them to the market. These tests will allow firms to try the items under different conditions to thoroughly check if they are safe and sturdy for use in the real world or real-life situations.
M.Dev Studio for Development of Core Solution for SDV in Virtual World
In cooperation with Wind River, Hyundai Mobis is setting up a virtual space called the "M.Dev Studio." The firms will form this digital twin-based system next year. Through the platform, the companies will also implement joint projects with other developers.
Moreover, for this partnership, Wind River will be responsible for providing important solutions in the digital twin line. On the other hand, Hyundai Mobis will contribute by sharing its mobility technologies and expertise in digital and virtual landscapes.
"We expect to enhance development efficiency in the evolving vehicle environment, allowing us to respond swiftly to the demands of our client companies, Hyundai Mobis' executive vice president and head of the automotive electrification business division, Jung Soo Kyung, said in a press release. "We will stably establish the system and provide essential solutions for the SDV development of global automakers."
