Genesis Motors' three car models were recently recognized by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) and won the Car of the Year award. Hyundai Motor Group, the luxury automaker's parent company, shared the news late last week.
As per The Korea Times, Genesis Motors' G70 sedan, GV70 SUV, and GV80 SUV topped several categories of the award-giving body and took home five awards, including the Best Small Premium Car (Genesis G70), Best Mid-Size Premium Utility Vehicle in Canada (Genesis GV70), Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle (Genesis GV80), Best Technical Innovation Award for the brand's in-vehicle fingerprint reader, and Best Safety Innovation Award for its radar-based rear occupant alert system.
The Genesis G70 car model was said to have recorded a high score in performance, powerful design, and overall assessment. As for the GV70, its scores in boarding environment, interior design, completeness of construction, and general vehicle value appraisal.
The brand's GV80 has won the same award for the second time after winning the SUV of the Year award last year. The Canadian journalists' association announced the best-received cars in the country after 50 journalists tested and evaluated over 250 vehicles based on 20 features such as the car interior, car exterior, entertainment, engine, loading space, transmission, NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), and more.
With all the awards it received from the country's leading automobile award groups, the company said that Genesis is definitely bolstering its position as a premium vehicle brand in Canada.
"At Genesis, we believe that being a leading brand means developing an exciting product lineup that pairs bold designs with advanced safety and the latest technologies," Genesis Motors Canada's executive director, Lawrence Hamilton, said in a press release. "We are humbled by this honor and thrilled to be recognized by AJAC as leaders in luxury mobility in both the vehicle and innovation categories."
Canada's AJAC is composed of more than 100 journalists specializing in the automotive sector, and they come from all over Canada. They are said to be a dedicated group that consistently reports about carmakers without bias. They thoroughly assess each vehicle via rigorous testing to ensure that the public will be aware of what kind of car they are buying.
