Hyundai Motor and Kia, two prominent automobile manufacturers from Korea, have been honored with nine prestigious awards at the annual design awards in the United States. This recognition is a testament to their remarkable design competitiveness.
At the 2023 Good Design Awards, hosted by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies, Hyundai received six top awards in the transportation category.
Their N Vision 74, Ioniq 6, Grandeur, and Kona models were acknowledged for their innovative vehicle designs. Alongside Hyundai, Kia's EV9 electric vehicle model, and car infotainment system, Ki, were also recognized in the same category, according to Korea Times.
Collaboration Between Leading Institutions
The Good Design Awards, a globally recognized platform, results from the collaboration between The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago, Illinois, and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies in Europe. Each year, they honor award-winning works in various categories for Fortune 500 companies and global industry leaders via a press release.
Hyundai Motor proudly celebrates having four products selected in the highly competitive Transportation category at the 2023 GOOD DESIGN Awards. The N Vision 74, IONIQ 6, Grandeur (Azera), and Kona each demonstrated exceptional design attributes that captivated the judging panel.
The N Vision 74, a high-performance hydrogen-hybrid 'rolling lab,' achieved a grand slam victory. It secured all four major global design awards, including iF, IDEA, Red Dot, and the GOOD DESIGN award. This remarkable achievement solidifies Hyundai Motor's commitment to the future, drawing inspiration from the iconic 'Pony Coupe Concept' unveiled in 1974.
The sleek exterior and stylish interior design of the IONIQ 6 captivated attention. Its smooth and streamlined contours minimize wind resistance, resulting in an impressive aerodynamic coefficient (Cd) of 0.21 – the best among all Hyundai Motor vehicles. The IONIQ 6 demonstrates a harmonious blend of sensibility and efficiency.
With its advanced design, the Grandeur reinterprets the legacy of previous models and sets a new standard. Its futuristic exterior styling and carefully crafted interior offer unmatched comfort and luxury, embodying the essence of Hyundai Motor's flagship sedan.
The Kona, an electric vehicle with a unique future-oriented image, boasts iconic design elements while reflecting Hyundai Motor's commitment to innovation. Its seamless horizon lamp, striking surfaces, and sharp lines harmoniously merge, showcasing elegance and progressive design.
Recognition in the Interactive Media Category
Besides triumphing in the Transportation category, Hyundai Motor also impressed the judges in the Interactive Media category. The 'Seon' connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system and the 'Hyundai Sans UI' mobility-exclusive font stood out for their innovation and user-centric design.
