Tesla seems to be in the news a lot these days and even in Italy, the company is making headlines. A recent proof of Tesla owners’ enthusiasm comes from Italian drivers who recently drove a Tesla Model S P100D for 1,078km on a single charge. This makes the model the first EV to break the 1,000km limit that customers have been looking forward to.
Now, it’s worth pointing out that in order to reach these kinds of long-distance travels on a single charge, the drivers had to make a few adjustments. As Futurism notes, these types of achievements are mostly about symbolism than anything else due to how drastically different the driving style has to be. Even so, what the Tesla Owners Club Italia managed to do is still worthy of note.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a Tweet about the astounding achievement by the club. He touted how a production model without any kind of special modifications, and is thus available to anyone was able to break such an important record.
Officially verified as the first production electric car to exceed 1000km on a single charge! Congratulations Tesla Owners Italia!! https://t.co/r8fFZIFEP2

“Officially verified as the first production electric car to exceed 1000km on a single charge! Congratulations Tesla Owners Italia!!” the Tweet reads.
The club posted its own Tweet as well, announcing the milestone.

“1078 km - 669.83 miles with Tesla ModelS 100D in a single charge by Tesla Owners Italy-Ticino-San Marino #teslarecord,” Club Italia wrote.
As to what makes this development so noteworthy, it’s because electric vehicles are often disparaged by car enthusiasts and traditional analysts due to their limited range. By proving that an electric car can reach 1,000km on a single charge, it allays some of the anxiety that interested parties might have regarding EVs.
Achieving this kind of range might not be possible with the current driving habits of most people right now. However, Tesla and other car companies are working on improving car batteries and driving efficiencies, which will one day allow for long-distance driving with no trouble whatsoever.
