James Greer (Wendell Pierce) remained one of the main players in season 2 and joined the titular protagonist, played by John Krasinski, in a much riskier mission in South America. However, the season 2 finale showed Greer second-guessing his future as a federal agent, making fans worry about his return in “Jack Ryan” season 3.

Greer is not a typical ranking federal officer, mainly because he hates staying in the office. He makes a conscious decision to join Jack in the field, no matter how critical a mission seems. But he was visibly shaken by the situations he endured in season 2 while also nursing serious health conditions.

It is not strange for fans to rely on official social media accounts for updates on their favorite shows. The choice of words in this particular online interaction is obviously a play on Greer’s role, but it could still be seen as a welcome hint at the return of a fan-favorite character.

Greer's appearance in “Jack Ryan” season 3 may now be more likely, but what’s next for him is still uncertain. As mentioned, the character stated that on-the-field work might no longer be for him, given his deteriorating health.
