Amazon Prime Video’s take on Tom Clancy’s “Jack Ryan” franchise is certainly a good example of how TV show and movie reboots should be done. Fans are now very excited to hear about “Jack Ryan” season 3 after the successful release of season 2 last fall.
While Amazon has yet to announce the “Jack Ryan” season 3 release date, fans may want to review everything that happened in season 2. From there, viewers might be able to see why the third season could have the most challenging plot yet for John Krasinski’s titular role.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 plot: Jack might have enemies everywhere
Season 2 was still about Jack being a hero protecting national security, but his mission also became extremely personal when his good friend Senator Jim Moreno (Benito Martinez) was assassinated. Additionally, his former boss and trusted ally James Greer (Wendell Pierce), was kidnapped and tortured by the goons of the corrupt South American leader Nicolas Reyes (Jordi Molla).
Jack’s mission in South America led him to another culprit Senator Chapin (Michael O’Neill), who he got arrested by the end of season 2. It will not be surprising if all these events haunt Jack in “Jack Ryan” season 3. Chapin’s name may have been disgraced, but there is a chance that he has enough strings to pull to make Jack’s life miserable while he is behind bars.
There is also the possibility that James’ bad experiences in season 2 will take a toll on his physical and mental health in “Jack Ryan” season 3. This part appeared to have been foreshadowed in the season 2 finale. So it is also very possible for James and Jack’s dynamic to change that could pose another burden for the main protagonist.
Meanwhile, Jack remains a CIA agent, so it can be expected that he would have to neutralize another international threat in “Jack Ryan” season 3. The question for the next installment is if old enemies would team up with Jack’s new adversaries.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 release date speculations: Why a 2020 premiere is unlikely
Seasons 1 and 2 were released in 2018 and 2019, so it is understandable if fans are hoping to see “Jack Ryan” season 3 premiere in 2020. However, it should be noted that the first two installments of the series had ample time for its typical production timetable of more than a year.
As for the third season, its scripts were reportedly just being made last month with Krasinski’s help. This means that fans should be prepared to see 2020 end without the release of “Jack Ryan” season 3.
