“Jack Ryan” season 2 did not disappoint in exceeding the level of action that fans witnessed from the first series installment. However, it left a major loophole in Jack’s (John Krasinski) character when his original love interest was MIA in all of the eight new episodes.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 plot speculations on Jack’s love life
No matter what fans think of Jack and Cathy Mueller’s (Abbie Cornish) on-screen chemistry, it was still very absurd to cut her out entirely in season 2. It should also be noted that Cathy has been one of the most constantly featured roles within the Ryanverse franchise that Tom Clancy created.
In “Jack Ryan” season 2, the possibility for Jack to meet a new love interest immediately emerged in episode 1. But the woman to whom she had a reckless (because he was on a mission) one-night stand with turned out to be a German intelligence agent named Harry (Noomi Rapace). In the next seven episodes, Harry served a necessary role, so Jack’s rivalry with Max (Tom Wlaschiha) could be resolved.
Jack and Harry worked well together, but if there was any chance for them to become a couple, it was not made obvious throughout “Jack Ryan” season 2. Overall, this leaves Jack’s love life a hanging aspect of the character coming into season 3.
As mentioned, Cathy’s total absence was not explained, and she was not even mentioned. Not saying anything about Cathy’s whereabouts could have several implications in “Jack Ryan” season 3. It would make it easier for the writers and producers to bring back the infectious diseases expert because they did not seal her fate in season 2. On the other hand, the total disregard for her character might simply mean that she is not returning.
‘Jack Ryan’ season 3’s release date
The good news is that “Jack Ryan” season 3 has been confirmed for some time now. However, fans still need to be patient in waiting for the release date announcement.
Seasons 1 and 2 premiered in different months and with more than a one-year gap. That makes it more difficult to determine when “Jack Ryan” season 3 could be released.
At this point, the third season’s production has not been reported yet, making it very possible for the script development and filming to take place in 2020. Considering the overall production time it took before the earlier seasons were released, the chance for “Jack Ryan” season 3 to premiere in 2020 is already very slim.
