“Jane the Virgin” season 5 has yet to air but it has been confirmed that this will be the fifth and final season. With reports that this will be the last run, Brad Silberling, the series’ executive producer, admitted that the rumor is true.
The Finale
Brad Silberling did not hide the fact that the cast and crew will say their farewells when “Jane the Virgin” season 5 concludes. He confirmed this when he was interviewed for a movie he wrote and directed, titled “An Ordinary Man.” During the chat, he described the drama’s upcoming finale as “bittersweet but perfect.”
“Yes, we are heading into the final season,” Silberling told Metro. “It is a wonderful final season of the show.”
He further said that they have always planned it this way. This means that since the beginning, they have already known when they will end “Jane the Virgin.”
Moreover, “Jane the Virgin” lead star Gina Rodriguez also hinted at the show’s final run. In her interview with Variety, she said that the fifth season is their last.
Talking about her directorial debut via a special episode in season 4, she said, “When it came to directing ‘Jane,’ as the star of the show, I was like, ‘I need to come so correct that I cannot be denied. It’s the most incredible experience.”
Gina went on to say that she wants to do more directing in “Jane the Virgin” season 5, unconsciously mentioning the words “in our final season."
How Many Episodes for Season 5?
It was revealed that the drama is ending with a total of 100 episodes. From season 1 to 4, the show already completed 81 episodes in all, so it means that “Jane the Virgin” season 5 is concluding with 19 episodes.
Air Date
“Jane the Virgin” season 5 is not listed on The CW’s fall schedule, so it will not return in its usual October premiere. The earliest possible air date for the final season is January 2019.
