When it comes to transformations by main characters and having every action have meaning, few shows are as good at delivering than “Killing Eve.” It always seems as if the main character Eve (Sandra Oh) is never in control of her own actions even as she looks like she is handling the situation. In “Killing Eve” Season 2, the expressiveness and obsessions are becoming clear, as well.
As BuzzFeed News reports, a recent interview with Sandra Oh revealed some truly interesting insights into one scene, in particular, that shocked many. This was when Eve stabbed Villanelle (Jodie Comer) even as they seemed like they were about to consummate their obsession for each other. The twist was simply delicious and the consequences even more so. It seems the actress was just as fascinated with the development, as well.
“You can speak of it as stabbing, but I love working in the metaphor: having the violence or the penetration was fascinating to me. They get into each other's orbit, and there's this kind of what am I doing here? This pull between them that they have not figured out,” Sandra Oh explained.
“I loved all the kind of magic or mystery, and the ambiguity of what's going on — because I don't feel like Eve knows what's going on.”
This is exactly what makes the show so fascinating and why “Killing Eve” Season 2 is so fun to watch. What’s more, it features some truly expressive and reactive characters that one would not normally associate with a premise like that of this show and the actions therein. Both Eve and Villanelle revel in their actions in different ways, contrasting each other and thus making both shine even more.
The Sunday premiere of “Killing Eve” Season 2 was certainly one of the best things to happen to television in a while. Many publications say as much and the viewers themselves seem quite satisfied.
