As one of the premier Square Enix franchises in the video game industry, fans have been awaiting the latest official installment to Kingdom Hearts for more than a decade. Finally, it would seem that Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to be released and its director recently provided a few details about the game. For one thing, the iconic Gummi ship is set to return.
Legendary game figure Tetsuya Nomura recently sat down with IGN to discuss KH3 during the D23 expo. One of the things that the game’s director notes is the return of the beloved Gummi ship, which is basically how the series’ protagonists make their way to different worlds. This is notable because the last time that the iconic modular vessel made an appearance was KH2.
"We can confirm that we do have Gummi Ships in Kingdom Hearts 3 because it is a numbered Kingdom Hearts title," Nomura said. "You can expect that to show up, but it has evolved. We can't say how it has evolved, it's a secret, but Gummi Ships will be in Kingdom Hearts III."
Now, it’s worth noting that while a lot of players loved the Gummy ship sequences, this doesn’t mean that there were no criticisms. In fact, there were plenty, which the development team has confirmed to have addressed, Game Informer reports.
Another change that the team is bringing to the game is new magic tiers. Fans of the first two games should already know that the highest forms of magical moves that Sora and his friends could do are in the “ga” range. That is to say, “Blizzaga” or “Thundaga.”
According to Nomura, players will finally be able to use the highest tiers of these magic attacks in the form of things like the “Blizzaza” magic option. Before, only King Mickey could use such a move.
