The story of “Game of Thrones” might be filled with sudden deaths, battles, and no happy endings for romance storylines but actors Kit Harington and Rose Leslie did find true love out of the working on the show. Leslie’s character, the fearless wildling named Ygritte, did not make it to the later seasons of the show. But Harington is certain that filming with his now-spouse remains his most favorite moment in working on the show for almost a decade.
“Game of Thrones” season 8, a.k.a. the series finale, premiered last Sunday. Prior to that, HBO released a short video where main cast members look back to how they all started in the show. As for Harington, he looked so sure as he shared, “Iceland, season 2, the first day we were there — that was my favorite day on ‘Thrones.’”
The video special, titled “The Cast Remembers,” then shows clips of Harington and Leslie filming together a scene where Jon Snow, still a member of the Night’s Watch, was supposed to killed Ygritte. “I’ve never been to a more beautiful place in my life, and it was special for so many reasons,” Harington recalled.
And to the question of who was his favorite co-star throughout his work on “Game of Thrones,” again, the answer was pretty obvious. “My favorite actor to work with was Rose Leslie. There was something really special about working with Rose,” said Harington.
It can be recalled that Harington previously confirmed that it was also during their filming of season 2 in Iceland when he actually fell in love for real with Leslie. “The country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” the actor told Vogue Italia in 2016. “If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”
