Korean Air Lines Co. will begin charging additional fees ranging from 20,000 won to 150,000 won on emergency exit row seats with extra legroom in international flights, starting Jan. 14.
These seats are located in the front row of each section of the economy class and will be limited to passengers that satisfy the official safety requirements.
Those who book the emergency exit row seats have to follow crews' instructions during emergencies.
The additional charges would depend on the place of departure.
Seats for the handicapped, the pregnant, and those with infants would also be available without additional charges.
Korean Air's price policy change is perceived as a way to boost revenue amid weak passenger demand.
The company suffered an 11.74 billion won operating loss in the first nine months, with its sales declining 40 percent to 5.7 trillion won.
