"Last Man Standing" season 7 is back after ABC initially canceled the show. The return was made possible after Fox TV Network revived it for new episodes.
It was in May that the revival was first announced and the show’s lead actor, Tim Allen (Mike Baxter), expressed his happiness for the chance to continue the series.
"Excited? Team LMS was in the sixth inning, ahead by four runs, stands were packed and then for no reason, they call off the game. It leaves you sitting in the dugout, holding a bat and puzzled," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Allen as saying in a statement. "Now we get the news from Fox that it’s time to get back out on that diamond - hell yes, I’m excited!"
Due to excitement, he even joked that when he heard the offer for new episodes, he did a strong fist pump that threw his back out. Though this is good news to “Last Man Standing” season 7 viewers, it is sad that two of its original cast members are not coming back anymore.
Molly Ephraim (Mandy Baxter) and Flynn Morrison (Boyd Baxter) will not appear on the show as it’s launched again under a different company. It was said that both actors chose not to reprise their roles so the production team is figuring out who can replace them in “Last Man Standing” season 7.
As for the rest of the roles, all the characters are likely to be the same. Aside from Tim Allen, Nancy Travis (Vanessa Baxter), Amanda Fuller (Kristin Baxter), Jonathan Adams (Chuck), Christoph Sanders (Kyle Anderson) and Jordan Masterson (Ryan) will still be on the team.
Hector Elizondo (Ed Alzate) will be able to return as well as his other project from another network failed to push through. Fox is still negotiating with Kaitlyn Dever (Eve Baxter) for her casting.
Tim Allen confirmed that “Last Man Standing” season 7 is set to premiere on Sept. 28. It will reclaim its old timeslot on ABC, which is Friday at 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, Fox unveiled the first promo trailer of the show and it features Tim Allen. Check it out below:
