Lee Min Ho is making his drama comeback a year after being discharged from the army. He is set to return to the small screen through “The King: The Eternal Monarch,” another masterpiece from award-winning screenwriter Kim Eun Sook.
The actor was confirmed to star in the drama in May, just a few weeks after he completed his two-year mandatory military service. He is quite excited about this project as it will be his second time to work with the acclaimed writer with whom he worked with for “The Heirs,” which was a big hit as expected.
Drama synopsis
“The King: The Eternal Monarch” is a fantasy drama about parallel universes. It will present two time periods, which are the past and present. As per AsianWiki, the synopsis of “The King: The Eternal Monarch” reads: “The Devil is released into the human world and soon opens a door into a parallel world. Emperor Lee Gon tries to close the door to the parallel world, and South Korean Detective Jung Tae Eul tries to protect the lives of people and the person she loves.”
The cast lineup
Lee Min Ho will serve as the drama’s king as Emperor Lee Gon while “Goblin” star Kim Go Eun will be Jung Tae Eul/Luna. They will be supported by other top actors such as Woo Do Hwan (Jo Eun-Seob/Jo Young), Lee Jung Jin, Kim Kyung Nam (Kang Shin Jae), and Jung Eun Chae (Koo Seo Ryeong). “The King: The Eternal Monarch” will be directed by the same one who helmed “The Descendants of the Sun,” Baek Sang Hoon.
