Lee Min Ho has been discharged from the army in April, but he has yet to make his comeback in the drama scene. Since his return to civil life, the only thing that he did so far was hold photoshoots for magazines and products, and he has not appeared in any program yet.
This is why fans have been eagerly looking forward to his new drama that was announced just a week after he was released from the military. He signed up for Kim Eun Sook’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch,” and this will mark their reunion since starring in “The Heirs” drama that aired in 2013.
Drama details
A few weeks after Lee Min Ho was confirmed for his drama comeback via “The King: The Eternal Monarch,” his leading lady was announced, and it was “Goblin’s” Kim Go Eun. They will be joined by a great supporting cast consisting of Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, Lee Jung Jin, and Jung Eun Chae.
Filming location
It has been a while since the drama was revealed, and the good news is that the cast and crew finally started filming. It was reported that the first shooting day took place on Oct. 24 at a location in North Chungcheong Province.
As stated on South Korea’s Sports Kyung Hyang, Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun filmed in a two-story house with a large backyard. The set is just one of the few drama sets where Min Ho and the rest of the cast will work in.
Drama’s plot
As posted on My Drama List, “The King: The Eternal Monarch” will tell the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun). They are living in parallel worlds where their time periods are worlds apart. Apparently, the lady protagonist lives in the present time while the emperor is from the ancient period.
The two have met after a mysterious door was discovered by the emperor, and it leads to the modern-day world. He sought the help of Tae Eul so they can seal the passage before things get out of hand.
“The King: The Eternal Monarch” has no premiere date yet, but it is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2020 on SBS.
