Lee Min Ho will be making his comeback in the drama scene via “The King: The Eternal Monarch” that was written by one of South Korea’s favorite screenwriter Kim Eun Sook. She had worked with the actor in “The Heirs” and as they are teaming up for the second time in this new project, the drama is expected to achieve immense success as well.
About the “The King: The Eternal Monarch”
The drama was announced in April after Min Ho was discharged from the army and it took several months after that before the actual production starts. After the actor was confirmed to be the lead, Kim Go Eun was later announced to be his leading lady. Woo Do Hwan was also added to the cast lineup.
All three characters will have dual roles as the drama is showcasing the theme of a parallel universe. In this project, there will be two worlds - the past and the present - and the characters in those worlds are acted out by the same characters but different roles.
For instance, Lee Min Ho is Emperor Lee Gon in the past and in the present time, he is a police officer. On the other hand, Woo Do Hwan is the emperor’s bodyguard in the past but he is Jo Eun Seop, a social service worker, in the other world which is the present time.
The production has officially began
Filming for Lee Min Ho’s comeback drama will definitely start very soon as they have already held their first scripting reading in September. The actor also shared via social media that the scripts for “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is already complete. Min Ho disclosed the developments in the drama when he went live via streaming on Instagram and fans were really happy.
The main and support characters in the drama that include Kim Go Eun, Woo Do Hwan, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Kyung Nam and Lee Jung Jin were all present during the script reading that took place in Sangnam, Seoul on Sept. 17. Finally, Lee Min Ho’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is set to be released in the first half of 2020.
