As filming for the Season 2 of “Luke Cage” is underway, a set of photos shared on Instagram has tongues wagging whether we should be expecting an industry veteran to grace the Netflix series.
Last week, “Elementary” star Lucy Liu was spotted in Harlem, New York, which is near the set of the superhero series, Comicbook.com reported. This week, a couple of Instagram photos confirmed Liu’s presence in Harlem, wherein she is seen posing together with star Mike Colter and Mark Thompson, the owner of Harlem Coffee Co.
The first photo, which showed all three personalities, came in with a caption that read, “That's all folks...#newyork #coffee #harlem #marvel #lukecage #coffeeshop #coffeetime”
It begs to be seen whether Liu meeting Colter in Harlem was a chance or a fan thing, or whether she indeed is somewhat involved with the series, We Got This Covered reported. After all, the actress has built an impressive director’s portfolio, starting with several “Elementary” episodes, and one for “Graceland,” another crime drama. With the ongoing theme in “Luke Cage” Season 2, there is a possibility that Liu might be involved in a director capacity.
On the other hand, Screenrant points out Liu’s career as an action star, and made her characters in mainstream movies iconic on its own. She played one of the assassins in “Kill Bill,” a kickboxing secret agent in the “Charlie’s Angels” franchise, and a dangerous madame in “The Man With The Iron Fists.” The fight scenes that will obviously be called for in “Luke Cage” Season 2 may no doubt fit a Lucy Liu character.
“Luke Cage” Season 2 is expected to premiere together with a Marvel Cinematic Universe series, “Jessica Jones” Season 2, sometime in 2018.
