Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ has begun production in Hawaii in time for its expected release on ABC in the fall of 2017. On-set photographs reveal the first look at Anson Mount as the iconic Black Bolt as well as a stand-in for the teleporting dog Lockjaw.
The first season of the upcoming superhero television series based on the original comic books of the same name is expected to premiere on ABC on September 2017 and will consist of eight episodes, according to Gamespot. It is co-produced by IMAX, with the first two episodes getting a worldwide release in IMAX theaters.
According to Comicbook Movie, the first photographs from the filming set in Hawaii published by the twitter account of Reel News Hawaii showed the first look at Anson Mount as Black Bolt, the Head of the Inhuman Royal Family and King of Atillan. In the comic books, Black Bolt has the ability to unleash destruction with the power of his voice therefore he remains quiet for the most part. He first appeared in ‘Fantastic Four #45’ in 1965.
Mount’s costume didn’t include Black Bolt’s iconic mask and he had his face exposed. It remains unclear whether the costume is only one of many. The actor was accompanied by a large blue plastic dog, presumably a stand-in for the teleporting canine Lockjaw.
The full cast for the upcoming ‘Inhumans’ television series has recently been announced. Mount will be joined by Eme Ikwuakor as Black Bolt’s cousin Gorgon, Mike Moh as Black Bolt’s other cousin Triton, Serinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Medusa’s sister Crystal, Sonya Balmores as Head of the Royal Guards Auran, Ken Leung as Minister Karnak, and Iwan Rheon as Black Bolt’s brother Maximus the Mad.
According to Variety, executive producer and Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb said, “We’re thrilled with this cast. Eme, Isabelle, Mike, Sonya and Ellen round out an incredible array of talent that will finally bring the Royal Family of the Inhumans to IMAX and ABC.”
Executive producer Scott Buck added, “With Eme, Isabelle, Mike, Sonya and Ellen portraying the rest of our leading roles, we have a strong cast that is going to add tremendous depth to our Royal Family.”
Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ is scheduled to be released some time on September 2017. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and shares continuity with other films and television series in the franchise. It is based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s characters from the Marvel comic book series of the same name.
