‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ recently released its brand new trailer featuring extreme stunts and action sequences showing Jason Statham and Jessica Alba in the lead roles. Statham is set to reprise his role as the professional assassin Arthur Bishop.
The recently released trailer posted on Moviepilot featured brand new stunts and was packed with intense action sequences. It also featured the return of Statham as a professional killing machine. His character was first introduced in the preceding film ‘The Mechanic’, as an assassin who specializes in making his kills look like accidents or even suicides.
Director Simon West’s 2011 release received mixed reviews from critics and is currently scored at 53% at the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned a total of $62 million worldwide against a $40 million budget.
In the sequel, Statham is joined by Jessica Alba in the new cast. According to an article on Fansided, Alba appears to be playing Statham’s on-screen girlfriend, Gina. Alba's character was not present in the original film.
Other cast members include Tommy Lee Jones as Max Adams, Natalie Burn as Natalie Stone, Michelle Yeoh as Mae, and Sam Hazeldine as Riah Crain.
‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ is an upcoming action, crime and thriller film directed by Dennis Gansel. It is written for the big screen by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher. The new film follows Arthur as he fights to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend by being forced to carry out three challenging international assassinations.
William Chartoff, Robert Earl, David Winkler, and John Thompson serve as producers while Steven Chasman, Boaz Davidson, Frank DeMartini, Mark Gill, Avi Lerner, Brian Presley, and Trevor Short are executive producing. It is produced under Millenium Films and Chartoff-Winkler Productions and distributed by Summit Premiere.
The film is scheduled to premiere on August 26, 2016 in the United States.
