Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Could Have Been 'Less Controversial' and Help Improve Royal Family's Popularity: Royal Experts

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should be “less controversial” in their royal exit, and their actions since the split were never going to “resonate well” with Buckingham Palace, a royal commentator claimed.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Actions After ‘Megxit’ Will Never ‘Resonate Well’ With the Royal Family

Most, if not all, royal followers can recall that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the upper echelons of Buckingham Palace in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted to go across the pond in order to have a "private life," and have since been involved in a number of contentious situations.

Among the most controversial issues were Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s tell-all Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan,” as well as the Duke of Sussex's memoir “Spare.” "Better communication would have made the move less controversial and removed the tinge of sadness that many across the globe now feel,” Andy Barr said.

Since his shocking exit from the Firm, Prince Harry has maintained that he left his duties as it was the best thing to do to “protect his family.” However, Andy added that the decision did not “resonate well with the Royal Family.”

"Airing your family grievances via a globally best-selling book and a ground-breaking documentary was never going to resonate well with the Royal Family, let alone their team of advisors. The real power play here was between the armies of communications and brand advisors that both sides employ,” Andy Barr told The Mirror, as per GB News.

"The real power play here was between the armies of communications and brand advisors that both sides employ. If the Royal Family and Harry had been more stern in their ruling that neither side should brief negative messages about each other to the press, then much of the discussion could have been done behind closed doors, directly and with more dignity,” the PR expert went on.

Andy Barr also noted that the royals themselves "are clearly not blameless in this either and possibly took the mantra of 'never complain, never explain' too far.” "Whilst they garnered worldwide respect for not responding to every new sordid revelation, they could have better handled some of the more inflammatory elements, such as the accusations of a physical altercation between Harry and William,” Andy went on.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Could Have Helped Improve the Firm’s Popularity if They Stayed

Meanwhile, analyst Bonnie Brownlee tackled the issue during an appearance on True Royalty’s TV “The Royal Beat.” She described how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could have helped the Firm’s popularity rise had they remained in the U.K.

"Meghan could have been extremely helpful (to the Royal Family), especially in the Commonwealth… there are a lot of millennials around the world in the Commonwealth nations,” she stated.

“I think Harry and Meghan would have been highly successful, and sometimes I think they didn’t realize how powerful they already were before they moved to Los Angeles,” Bonnie added.
