Living in the White House for some time is bound to bring some changes, especially in the case of First Lady Melania Trump, since moving in. A new report reveals that Melania has changed considerably since becoming First Lady to her husband, Donald Trump.
According to voice expert Anthony Wade, he told Express that after analyzing speeches Melania made before Donald became President and now that he is in office, he found that the First Lady is being more careful with what she says and how she says it. Wade explained that her diction and speech is a lot more polished than how she may normally talk, perhaps because she has to speak in front of a lot of people and the fear of being humiliated “for her husband’s mistakes.”
Wade continued that Melania may have had to alter her speech so that she would be taken seriously and get her message across. Similar to her step-daughter Ivanka Trump, Melania is very careful with what she says when she makes speeches, said Wade. “It’s a hard position that they both are enduring, so they would be choosing their words much more carefully.”
It would make sense that Melania is a lot more careful with what she says as the Trump family is already being heavily scrutinized at every turn. She has also had her fair share of criticism from many, but not as much as her husband.
But that is not the only thing that had seemingly changed when Melania moved into the White House. She always tends to draw comparisons to the previous First Ladies, especially Michelle Obama, but it appears that she is molding the role into her own, including skipping on traditional First Lady duties. Among those customs that the previous First Ladies have done is move into the White House straightaway after the Inauguration. Melania chose to move into the White House several months after Donald was sworn into office so that their son Barron Trump could finish the year of school.
Another First Lady custom is planning and hosting the State Dinner. Donald did not have a State Dinner during his first year as President, and while the reason why was never disclosed, it may have been in large part, Melania’s decision not to do so. She also decided not to accompany her husband to the State of the Union address and instead attended with her own guests.
