Many celebrities and public figures all over the world are still mourning the untimely passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. First Lady Melania Trump also took to social media to express her condolences, however, it was not received as well as intended.
The First Lady posted her message of condolence to Bryant and his family. Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash in California along with his daughter Gianna and several others. Melania tweeted “sending thoughts and prayers” to Bryant’s family, but the public on the internet did not receive her message of condolence very well. They criticized her for a very neutral post and referred to her message as “cold-hearted” or uncaring.
Some commenters said that she may not have tweeted this message herself. Others, however, commented “empty words + empty head” on her post. One netizen said that the First Lady does not care about anyone else except her wallet. Another one also commented that Melania may best reserve her thoughts and prayers to what is happening at the Oval Office.
Melania’s message is visibly different in tone compared to her husband Donald Trump, who followed his tweet of “terrible news!” to a much-longer and seemingly more heartfelt message of condolence. However, many have noticed that Donald may have only reworded former president Barack Obama’s condolence message to the Bryant family. “Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would be just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day,” tweeted Obama.
The First Lady is known not only for being a very private person but according to those who have met her, she is known for having a very distinct perfume. Melania expert and CNN reporter Kate Bennett revealed that the First Lady has a very unique signature scent that people immediately know it is her when they get a whiff of it. “When it hits the nose, the reporters know to get out their notepads and photographers know to put their fingers on the shutter button,” said Bennett, who then describes the mysterious scent as a mixture of several other scents. “A mixture of jasmine and lily and something more exotic, like oolong tea or cinnamon.”
