Melania Trump suffered from embarrassment when she was asked what her new year’s resolution is. What made the scenario more disheartening was the fact that it was her husband Donald Trump who placed her in the situation.
The POTUS’ correction led to Melania’s public embarrassment
Express reported that a member of the press asked the FLOTUS what her new year’s resolution is and she responded with the simple phrase of “peace on the world.” Hearing her answer, it was said that Donald Trump butted in and corrected his wife at once by explaining to her that new year’s resolutions are not meant to be said for all to hear.
In the now-viral video clip of the First Couple’s interview, Donald pointed out to Melania, “peace is right but I’m not sure you’re supposed to say a resolution out loud.” The POTUS added, “But I can tell you, we really have a good resolution and it’s a resolution for our country.”
Social media reactions on the First Lady’s answer
As if this was not enough, Melania Trump was also berated on social media. On Twitter, the citizens also corrected the First Lady’s grammar as they said she should have said “Peace in the world” instead of “Peace on the world.”
The grammatical error
“Melania wants peace ‘ON’ the world? Be Best and learn English. Trump wants a piece of ‘something..’” one commenter wrote. Another one pointed out that what the FLOTUS said was actually not a resolution thus her answer is wrong plus he went on to criticize the president. The commenters further ridiculed Melania Trump by stating she did not get the concept and answered like she is in a beauty pageant yet she still failed.
“Double fail,” Gabriel Conley tweeted. “Obviously ‘peace on the world’ isn't a resolution and obviously Trump's senile mind thought they were asking about birthday wishes. We can give Melania the pass because English isn't her strong suit but no matter how you slice it, who could actually like this guy?”
Finally, critics even went as far as advising Melania Trump to study again as her English still sucks. They also mockingly quoted her previous statements where she said she is not just a beauty but intelligent too.
