United States First Lady Melania Trump has constantly been under immense criticism from the public, and the recent events have only added up to that. The First Lady was recently mocked by netizens over her appearance in the Oval Office of the White House.
Recently, President Donald Trump sat down with Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. The video of their meeting showed Melania being present at the Oval Office where the meeting was held, drawing confusion from many of the public online. As the First Lady sat silent the entire time during the meeting, many expressed their confusion as to why she was present.
One netizen referred to Melania as Donald’s “handler” and asked why she was there at the meeting. Others pointed out the very indifferent expression on the First Lady’s face while some even wondered what she was wearing at that meeting. But most of the netizens wondered why would the First Lady be present at a meeting she apparently did not need to be in.
During the meeting with Mitsotakis, Donald Trump reiterated their threats towards Iran, explaining the need to kill the Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani. His death forced many mourners and protesters who were backed by the Iran militia, to attack the United States embassy in Baghdad.
Meanwhile, Melania has constantly drawn comparisons to her predecessor, Michelle Obama, who was the First Lady from 2008 to 2016. Michelle has become a crowd-favorite, and many have even urged her to run for President in the upcoming elections. It is clear that many favored Michelle over Melania. When the current First Lady visited the children at the Salvation Army Center in east London, she was placed in an awkward situation when the children expressed how they favored Michelle over her.
One child was asked if Melania was as good as Michelle, they responded that she might not be for several reasons. Another one even pointed out that the current First Lady may have had a little too much makeup on, and some even expressed surprise upon finding out that Melania has not had a mince pie before. But there were also kids who were surprised and happy that the First Lady came to visit.
