Meta Platforms Inc. will integrate its upgraded artificial intelligence assistant with its leading social media apps - Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram. Users of these platforms worldwide can experience advanced AI technology, and it is for free!
The upgraded Meta AI is built with Llama 3, the next generation of the company’s open-source large language model (LLM), which was also launched this week. The Llama 3 makes Meta’s AI assistant a high-powered tool rivaling OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Assistant.
What Meta AI Can Offer to Users
The new AI assistant with the Llama 3 can help users with web search and image generation without the need to leave the social media platform in use. According to CNBC, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a presentation that the tool can also answer queries and create animations.
Meta said that its AI assistant is its biggest push into the artificial intelligence space yet. It is available on FB, Messenger, WhatsApp, and IG and will be placed in the search box of the mentioned apps. “We believe that Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use,” Zuckerberg said.
Moreover, users can use the Meta AI to assist with vacation planning or store recommendations. It can even provide some inspiration for decorating a home.
Availability and Other Access Points
Android Authority reported that in addition to Meta’s social media platforms, people can access Meta AI through a standalone website called meta.ai. Anyone can use the tool directly on the site without downloading anything.
Finally, while Meta AI is offered worldwide, it was initially rolled out in some countries. Outside of the U.S., it is already available in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Meta will add more countries to the list later.
