Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) has reportedly postponed the release of its latest artificial intelligence model to developers several times, with no confirmed launch date currently in place. According to a Wall Street Journal report published Wednesday, the delay has now extended for nearly two months after Meta’s AI leadership previously indicated that a release would arrive “soon.”
The report, citing sources familiar with the matter, suggests that the company continues to face challenges in bringing its newest AI technology to market. The delay has attracted attention from investors and industry observers who are closely monitoring Meta’s progress in the increasingly competitive artificial intelligence sector.
Meta is also developing an application programming interface (API) designed to give developers access to its AI capabilities. The company told the Wall Street Journal that it is currently testing the API with selected partners and still intends to launch the platform later this month. However, an exact release date has not been disclosed.
The AI API was originally expected to debut alongside Meta’s latest AI model, known as Muse Spark, when the company introduced the technology in April. The postponement of both the model’s broader availability and related developer tools has raised questions about the timeline for Meta’s AI expansion strategy.
As competition intensifies among major technology companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence, Meta continues working to strengthen its position in the market. The company has made AI development a central part of its long-term growth plans, competing with industry leaders that are rapidly rolling out new generative AI products and services.
Investors are expected to closely watch future announcements from Meta regarding the launch of Muse Spark and its developer API. Any updates could have significant implications for the company’s AI roadmap, developer ecosystem, and broader efforts to expand its influence in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence industry.
