Michael Schumacher figured in a freak accident in December 2013 and this left him with a grave injury as his brain was severely affected. In fact, he almost did not make it but was saved after his doctors put him into an induced coma.
In the first few years, it is believed that Schumacher has been bedridden and unable to respond but there were also reports that the F1 champion of all-time has made significant progress already and undergoing physical therapy to restore the functions of muscles and enable him to move. But then, no one can confirm any of this because his family totally shut down the media and did not let the public know how Schumi is doing.
His family talked on Schumi’s 50th birthday
Most probably, when Michael Schumacher turned 50 in January, that was the first time that his family publicly commented about his health. On the racer’s official social media page via The Independent, his family wrote: “You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him. Please understand (that) we are following Michael's wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, as it has always been, in privacy.”
Michael’s health progress - A friend’s latest update
His family gave an update but that was really vague. Michael Schumacher’s friends share more detailed information about his health condition. He has a few friends that are allowed to see him from time to time and one of them is the former Ferrari chief and present president of FIA, Jean Todt.
His interview with Radio Monte Carlo has been transcribed by Australia’s Fox Sports and it was learned that Michael Schumacher had made remarkable progress with regards to his health. Todt revealed that Schumacher can watch TV now and he is into races.
To prove his claim, Todt said that he witnessed this with his own eyes because he was there. He actually watched a race on TV with Michael Schumacher when he visited him one day in his home in Switzerland.
“I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true. I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland,” he said in the interview. “Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house. He does not give up and keeps fighting.”
Racer’s 28th debut anniversary
Michael Schumacher is celebrating his 28th year in the racing sport. He made his debut in 1991 and since the beginning, Schumi has been labeled as the “real deal” as per F1i. until now, the F1 champ is still unmatched in terms of what he achieved throughout his career.
