Last week, “Minecraft Earth” embraced the Android crowd by adding them as beta testers weeks after iOS users entered the fold. Unfortunately, there’s little to be done within the game as the developers have yet to add its Adventure content.
However, Microsoft recently announced that in-game currencies are already available in “Minecraft Earth.” Called Rubies, this currency allows you to purchase various items within the game to accelerate progression.
And as can be expected, a lot of people are already expressing their frustration about this as “Minecraft Earth” will be plagued by microtransactions. This predatory practice has been frowned upon by the gaming community as companies would usually lure players with a promise of a free game only to stifle progress in the long run that makes spending necessary, Forbes reported.
Minecraft Earth in-game currency only limited to Android devices
At the moment, Rubies are only available for Android users. Those playing “Minecraft Earth” on iOS will have to wait before this update affects them. When that will be, is still unknown as of this writing.
“Android users will be able to purchase rubies during the [Minecraft Earth] closed beta, but don't worry iOS users - we have plans to roll this feature out to you very soon! Rubies, whether you buy or earn them, are linked to your Xbox Live account and will stay with you through Early Access and beyond,” Mojang announced in a blog post.
Minecraft Earth Adventures will be risky
As mentioned earlier, “Minecraft Earth” doesn’t offer a lot of content at the moment as players are only restricted to harvesting and building structures. Battling monsters will likely be added into the game once it officially launches.
However, there are already sneak previews on the web showcasing these Adventures in “Minecraft Earth.” Youtuber DanTDM is one of the few who is lucky enough to experience this content where he was seen battling spiders, creepers, and skeletons.
“Minecraft Earth” Adventures will spawn randomly throughout the world and is designed to be played with a companion. Some will be a walk in the park, while others will be more difficult with the possibility of losing all your treasures should you happen to die to a monster.
With regards to the release date of “Minecraft Earth,” there’s still no word from Mojang or Microsoft when they’ll release the game. But they’ve announced that it will definitely come out this year, perhaps in the last quarter of 2019.
