Capcom’s “Monster Hunter World” is all about hunting vicious beasts of all shapes and sizes. “Final Fantasy XIV” by Square Enix just happens to be a game where fighting monsters is part of the experience. This makes the recent announcement of a crossover between the two properties quite fitting.
The new collaboration was announced by Square Enix during its E3 presentation, where it revealed a new teaser for the matter. It showed the world of the MMORPG “Final Fantasy XIV” with a Palico entering the scene and a giant dragon suddenly swooping in.
As Polygon notes, the details regarding this new development are still scarce. The clip was quite short and didn’t even last one minute. However, it seems that, much like in “Monster Hunter World,” players can work together to take down monsters via this crossover.
Players should expect this to be a limited-time event as well. The chance to find "MH" monsters in the MMORPG will likely be available for only a brief window of time. The same goes for the loot and equipment that players will be able to salvage from the experience.
According to the website of "FFXIV," hunts will only be available to players at level 70 or over as well. They will also need to have completed the quests in the “Stormblood” expansion in order to participate.
With regards to the extent of the "MH" content in the game, it’s not clear whether there will be special monsters to hunt. However, these types of crossovers are nothing new to the franchise.
"MH" games have been known to feature the assets of other games in the past, from skins to skills. This time, it seems that “Monster Hunter World” has become big enough for other companies to take an interest in, GameSpot notes.
