There were a lot of surprises during the PlayStation Paris Games Week launch. One of the most notable is a new clip of Monster Hunter World where, right near the end of the video, attendees were shown Aloy with a mech companion. Fans of Horizon: Zero Dawn, another PlayStation 4 hit will recognize the character immediately, which makes the reveal a rather surprising crossover.
Now, while the Aloy announcement is great, there are also other surprises for fans of the Monster Hunter franchise during the event, VG247 reports. First, though, it’s worth going through the Aloy matter first.
The appearance of the character comes in the form of a simple character model where a hunter wears Aloy’s signature armor. The mechanized companion is also a Palico that’s given the same treatment. Even Aloy’s bow has been confirmed to make an appearance in the MH game, though, there’s no reason to expect that it will perform any differently compared to the giant bows that are already available.
Aside from the crossover, there is also a PlayStation beta event that is expected to run from December 9-12th, Attack Of The Fanboy reports. Capcom will be hosting a PlayStation Plus event where members will get the chance to fight three of the game’s fiercest monsters; the Barroth, the Great Jagras, and the Anjanath.
There were also several new areas and creatures revealed in the trailer, including desert and jungle environments. Aside from all of those details, however, it’s pretty much the MH game that was revealed during the previous E3 conference.
Fans of the series won’t have to wait long for the game to release either. Monster Hunter World is scheduled for launch on January 26, 2018. That’s only a few weeks away before players can start hunting giant reptiles and dragons to their hearts’ content.
