The mid-May short interest represents 4.42 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.23 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 816 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 813,368,216 shares at the end of the settlement date of May 15, 2017 compared with 811,108,534 shares in 799 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.96 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 3.24
In summary, short interest in all 3,142 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,233,659,293 shares at the May 15, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,121 issues and 8,220,809,416 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 4.22 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.94 days for the previous reporting period.
