Naver Cloud is adding a new AI-based feature that will provide subtitles in real-time. This means that subtitles will be automatically offered to viewers during live broadcasts.
CLOVA Speech Feature
The Korea Economic Daily reported that CLOVA Speech, an AI-based speech service, is available on Naver News. In addition to the company’s news broadcast, it provides automatic subtitle generation for the Naver Shopping Live and customer service call data operations.
It was explained that this speech-to-text service is a new feature that draws out and instantly generates subtitles as the speaker talks in real-time video streaming. The CLOVA Speech supports Korean, English, and Japanese subtitles.
Advantages of the New Real-Time Streaming Feature
On Friday, Feb. 2, Naver Cloud further said that through its real-time streaming feature for CLOVA Speech, which converts voice to text, live captions during broadcasts are now possible without the need for stenographers’ typing services. Moreover, text transcription of phone conversations is also doable for faster customer responses.
Lastly, real-time streaming on CLOVA Speech reportedly allowed Naver Cloud to reduce the cost of voice and speaker recognition by 40%. The flat-rate pricing for the service was also eliminated, offering significant savings for users since the new features are now provided under a single rate plan without separate fees for the speaker, voice recognition, and event detection service that recognizes music, shouts, applause, etc.
“We expect that the real-time streaming function will be highly utilized in industries that require real-time broadcasting, such as broadcasters, live commerce companies, and YouTubers,” Chosun Business quoted Naver Cloud’s AI product planning manager, Kim Seong Hoon, as saying in a statement. “We will continue to enhance the AI-based Clova service for enterprises. “We will provide support to help your business grow.”
