Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended former U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, despite international criticism labeling it as ethnic cleansing.
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu supported the idea of allowing Gazans to leave and return, stating, “What’s wrong with that? They can relocate and come back. But you have to rebuild Gaza.” However, he did not address Trump’s suggestion of a U.S. takeover of the enclave.
Trump’s remarks, made since Jan. 25, called for Arab nations like Egypt and Jordan to absorb Palestinians from Gaza. Both countries, along with Palestinian leaders, rejected the idea. Following widespread condemnation, Trump’s aides softened their stance on the proposal.
Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in over 47,000 Palestinian deaths in the past 16 months according to the Gaza health ministry, has faced accusations
