U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a landmark peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, marking a potential end to the two-year conflict in Gaza. In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump declared that both sides had signed off on the first phase of his “Peace Plan,” which includes the release of all hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to an agreed-upon line. Trump called it “a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America,” expressing gratitude to mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey. He emphasized that the deal represents a “Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace,” adding, “Blessed are the peacemakers!”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the development as “a big day for Israel,” saying his government would convene to approve the deal and bring all hostages home. Netanyahu credited Israel’s military and security forces for their role in achieving this breakthrough and extended heartfelt thanks to President Trump and his team “for their dedication to this sacred mission.” He reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to “expand peace with our neighbors,” underscoring a hopeful tone for regional stability.
In a parallel statement, Hamas acknowledged the agreement and expressed appreciation for the mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, as well as President Trump’s role in pursuing a “complete end to the war.” The group urged all guarantor states to ensure Israel fulfills its commitments under the deal and warned against any delays in implementation. Hamas also praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, affirming that their sacrifices would not be in vain and pledging to continue pursuing freedom, independence, and self-determination.
The ceasefire deal marks a pivotal step toward lasting peace in the Middle East, with international leaders watching closely as both sides move toward implementing the historic accord.
