Neymar’s potential transfer away from PSG is one of the most tumultuous news surrounding the Soccer league as drama and rivalries dominate the whole situation. Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the teams that are still gunning for the 27-year-old, but PSG is apparently unsatisfied with what’s been brought on the table.
Real Madrid is offering £110 million-plus Luka Modric for Neymar, but the offer has been turned down. Following that, the team put forward Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez plus additional cash, but PSG rejected that as well.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is still fighting to get back Neymar after he left the team in acrimonious circumstances. But the animosity has now been turned on its head as Neymar is apparently willing to cut down his salary by 15 million euros to rejoin his former squad, BBC reported.
PSG wants a hefty sum for Neymar
The problem is that PSG isn’t interested in returning Neymar to Barcelona, with most of the decision stemming from Barcelona’s offer and the rivalry between both teams. PSG wants £200m for Neymar so that it can get back the money that they spent when they acquired him in 2017.
But Barcelona and Real Madrid simply cannot match that price that’s why they’ve offered a cash-plus-player deal instead, a trade that PSG isn’t interested in. Multiple high-profile personalities in Barcelona have expressed their desire for Neymar’s return that’s why the organization isn’t giving up despite the chances of the trade happening is next to impossible.
Neymar’s teammates want him back in the fold
"Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, and Luis Suarez want him back but also the president Josep Maria Bartomeu has two more years in his mandate, and he wants to leave a big legacy. Can you imagine all those players that have been mentioned and Neymar as well?” says BBC Radio 5 Live's Guillem Balague.
But it appears that not pursuing Neymar, for now, is the logical choice for Barcelona since it’ can’t possibly accommodate all that talent on the field at the same time. Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi are more than enough to ensure the team is a title contender. Turning that trio into a quartet by adding Neymar would mean that one of the aforementioned three would have to be benched. This is why Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde said that he’s happy with his current team and is declining to further comment about the entire situation.
