There are many details yet to be announced about “Now You See Me 3.” Lionsgate, the studio that produces the movie series, has yet to provide an update about its development and production. So aside from its release date, fans are left in the dark whether the anticipated third movie would feature the same cast as the earlier installments.
‘Now You See Me 3’ cast: Who will return for the third heist?
The first two films revolved around the creation and the adventures of the group of magicians called the Four Horseman. It is composed of the master illusionist Danny Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), the mentalist Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), street magician and sleight of hand expert Jack Wilder (Dave Franco), the newest addition and master of misdirection Lula May (Lizzy Caplan). Whatever the plot is for “Now You See Me 3,” it is safe to assume that these four are going to headline the next film.
Aside from these four characters, it is hard to imagine having “Now You See Me 3” without their leader and the so-called Fifth Horseman, Dylan Shrike (Mark Ruffalo). As established in the second movie, members of the Eye seems to be everywhere and keeping an eye on the Four Horsemen. So the main characters will most likely be getting help from more magicians from the Eye if the third movie ever gets released.
For years now, it has been rumored that Benedict Cumberbatch would be the newest cast addition. The stories introduced in the first two movies are resolved, but the series’ overall plot still has more unanswered elements. And seeing that the Four Horsemen will need a new main adversary in “Now You See Me 3,” adding a new main character played by a huge name in Hollywood is not an implausible development.
‘Now You See Me 3’ release date still unknown
The bigger issue about “Now You See Me 3” other than who is coming back to set or not is that Lionsgate has yet to provide an update on the movie’s production for several years now. It is also safe to assume that filming for the third movie has not started yet because the actors mentioned above have been busy on other projects. However, until producers announce the cancellation of this project, fans are likely still going to wait for updates on “Now You See Me 3."
