U.S. chipmaker Nvidia and its employees have shown their support for the people affected by Israel's war with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. With thousands of employees from over 30 countries participating, a total of $5 million was generously donated.
Nvidia, further amplifying this act of kindness, matched and doubled the donation to an impressive $10 million, according to Reuters.
Nvidia's Philanthropic Efforts
To provide humanitarian assistance during this time of crisis, Nvidia has announced its historic donation. The Business Standard reported that this contribution is the largest ever made by the company in its 30-year history, reflecting its commitment to making a difference. The employees' broad support, extending from Israel to regions around the world, demonstrates their genuine care.
The donated funds will assist Israeli and foreign non-profit organizations in their mission to support civilians affected by the conflict. Prominent recipients include Asor Fund (JGive), American Friends of Magen David Adom, Doctors Without Borders, Friends of United Hatzalah, IsraAID (US) Global Humanitarian Assistance, Jewish Agency for Israel, World Central Kitchen, and Zaka.
Nvidia's employees have rallied in solidarity for their colleague, Avinatan Or. Along with his girlfriend Noa Argamani and approximately 240 others, Or was captured by Hamas during the Nova music festival on October 7. Their prayers and hope for his safe return reflect the bond among Nvidia families worldwide.
In addition to the substantial monetary donation, Nvidia has gone the extra mile to assist those affected. This includes donating hundreds of computers to families who have been forced to evacuate from the north and south of Israel. Furthermore, thousands of hot meals have been provided through the Nvidia Yokneam office cafeteria.
Helping Organizations Provide Aid
Recognizing the crucial role that non-profit organizations play on the ground, Nvidia has chosen carefully selected beneficiaries. These organizations include those who offer vital disaster relief, medical assistance, and humanitarian support to affected communities.
