Fans of OnePlus can rejoice as the mobile phone manufacturer recently confirmed one of the most awaited features of the OnePlus 6T. In an interview with CNET, OnePlus just confirmed that their upcoming upgrade to 2018's flagship model, the OnePlus 6T, will include the much-awaited in-screen fingerprint scanner feature.
OnePlus mentioned that the feature was originally meant to be deployed as early as 2017, on the OnePlus 5T, but the company was not satisfied with the state of in-screen fingerprint scanning technology that they had. The relocation of the finger scanner from the phone's rear to underneath the screen means that OnePlus can create a more unibody, albeit slightly thicker, phone with the OnePlus 6T
Aside from the confirmed feature on the OnePlus 6T, fans of OnePlus phones in the U.S. can finally enjoy getting the latest OnePlus phones without having to deal with international shipping retailers for the China-based phone. OnePlus has already signed an exclusive deal with T-Mobile to include the OnePlus 6T in future mobile data plans of the network provider.
OnePlus's move to have the OnePlus 6T marketed as part of network packages to the U.S. exclusively by T-Mobile is part of the company's current thrust to make the OnePlus brand a North American household name. A version of the OnePlus 6T optimized for T-Mobile networks will be released by the phone Manufacturer. OnePlus will still continue to manufacture global models of the OnePlus 6T that can utilize AT&T and other international networks upon release.
While there has yet to be an official release date for the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus has consistently followed a release schedule for their previous smartphones and their improved versions over the years. Fans of OnePlus can look forward to Q4 of 2018 for an official release date of the upcoming OnePlus 6T.
