There have been rampant speculations with regards to the OnePlus 6T in recent weeks even though there have been no concrete details on the matter. At this point, the only thing that anyone really has to go by is the company’s track record of releasing upgraded phones of its flagship devices later in the year. However, there have been reports that the OnePlus 6T could be the first to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset.
The OnePlus 6 might have launched to thundering applause, but now the world has turned its attention to the OnePlus 6T. Specifically, publications have been wondering what new goodies this device will have to offer. If recent rumors are right, it could include the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, Tech Advisor reports.
Now, it’s worth pointing out that OnePlus has been quite reticent about sharing details with regards to the OnePlus 6T or anything else. Everything from the release window to its expected specs is completely under wraps, so publications are left to rely on hearsays more often than not.
In the case of the Snapdragon 855 matter, it’s apparently the first to have been made using the 7nm FinFET process. This could reportedly give it download speeds of up to 2Gbps, which would be substantial, indeed. On the OnePlus 6T, it would give the device a massive advantage over others.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 845 was announced only in December of last year. Would Qualcomm really take such a huge gamble by showing its hand this early? This might be unlikely, which would disappoint OnePlus 6T fans.
For more concrete news, it would seem that OnePlus recently trademarked “Warp Charge,” which likely refers to its Dash Charge feature. As GSMArena notes, the change in name might have been due to some issues that the company ran into while filing the trademark in the E.U. So when the OnePlus 6T is announced, it might be marketed to come with “Wrap Charge” instead of Dash Charge.
