Unlike other smartphone manufacturers, OnePlus is less secretive even when it comes to its upcoming flagships. Several features of the OnePlus 6T have been confirmed, including the version of the pre-installed Android operating system for the device.
A few weeks ago, many fans were still not sure whether or not the OnePlus 6T will arrive with the latest Android OS, Android 9.0 Pie. Thankfully, the bosses of OnePlus do not like keeping secrets and reportedly addressed the matter on social media recently.
Talking to fans on Weibo (via GizmoChina), OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come out of the box with the latest Android OS. That comes as positive news because there is typically a longer wait for non-Google made smartphones to get the newest version of Android.
The OnePlus 6T will also support the latest version of the company’s own interface, OxygenOS. Unfortunately, people who are still using the Oneplus 3 and 5 series will reportedly have to wait longer to get the official Android Pie update.
People planning to get the OnePlus 6T can now expect much-improved software with Android Pie. The latest OS version comes with gesture-based interface navigation instead of various in-display buttons, AI-supported power saving settings called Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness, and more.
In several ways, the OnePlus 6T will carry some of the first-ever smartphone features that the company has ever launched. For one, it will join a short list of devices that are built with in-display fingerprint scanners.

It was made apparent in OnePlus 6T promotional materials that the company’s biggest offering in launching their next smartphone flagship is the in-display fingerprint scanner. However, to add this feature, OnePlus needed to sacrifice the 3.5mm headphones jack.

OnePlus also seems to fully embrace the display notch trend with the release of the OnePlus 6T. Various images leaked online show the upcoming device sporting the water drop notch design, which gives more viewing space.
