“Outlander” Season 4’s new trailer shed a lot of light on the trajectory of the show. The previous installment's finale saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) washed ashore on the coast of America after going through a shipwreck caused by a devastating storm.
Now, they’re in the unfamiliar land of North Carolina and trying to find their place in “Outlander” Season 4. Claire already knows that a revolution is brewing amidst the seemingly peaceful trees. She even hinted to Jamie that the overgrown forest will change years later to what America will eventually evolve into, Digital Spy reported.
Claire knows that the country will be built upon the strength of the local population, as well as foreigners who will try to achieve the American dream. “Outlander” Season 4 will have a lot of tense moments, especially since it’s set in a time where slavery is considered the norm.
Even Claire herself expressed her distaste for it in the new teaser clip of “Outlander” Season 4, telling Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy) that she doesn’t “agree with keeping people as property.” For his part, Jamie is determined to take positive actions in this timeline that would ripple into the present and affect his daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton).
But everyone knows that traveling back in time and tampering with history has dire consequences long after an action has been taken. What consequences these will be are still unknown at the moment. However, those who have read the books that this series is based upon can safely predict what will happen in “Outlander” Season 4 or even in the next installments going forward.
Aside from the tension caused by slavery, the addition of Irish pirate Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) will also bring in a lot of hardships for the Fraser family. One of them is the possible sexual assault of Brianna by Bonnet. Of course, the showrunners can opt out of this scene in “Outlander” Season 4 if they feel it may provoke some unwanted media attention.
News regarding this front remains quiet at the moment and fans will have to watch “Outlander” Season 4 to find out how the writers handled this plot development. The time-traveling drama series is set to return to television on Nov. 4.
