The anime-loving community has likely been waiting for the announcement of “Overlord” season 4 throughout 2019. Unfortunately, the year is ending in a couple of days, but Madhouse and other companies attached to the series remain mum on the continuation of the anime. However, fans still have many things to expect from the franchise in 2020.

Overlord’ drought will somehow be eased as Ainz’s chibi version returns on TV

The popularity of the franchise somehow makes its fans confident that “Overlord” season 4 will be released in the future. But the drought on the updates on its production is still something that its followers have been enduring for more than a year now.

Meanwhile, the wait for the “Overlord” season 4 confirmation will become more bearable once the new year begins as Ainz Ooal Gown and other “Overlord” characters return to the small screen. The second season of “Isekai Quartet” was announced this month, and it will premiere on Jan. 14, 2020.

Aside from Ainz, the first season of “Isekai Quartet” also featured Albedo, Shalltear, Bloodfallen, Aura Bella Fiora, Mare Bello Fiore, Demiurge, Cocytus, Hamsuke, Yuri Alpha, CZ2128 Delta, and Pandora's Actor. While “Isekai Quartet” features the chibi versions of these characters, it is still a great way to make the waiting game for “Overlord” season 4 less dreadful.

Overlord’ light novel series gets a new installment soon

If some fans are somehow not liking the “Isekai Quartet,” they still have something to look forward to amid the elusive announcement of “Overlord” season 4. It has been confirmed that the 14th volume of the “Overlord” light novel series will be released next year as well. It will hit the stores on March 12 with the title “Witch of the Ruined Country.”

The continuation of the light novel series, written by Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin, goes to show that there are enough source materials for the anime series to continue. The pacing of the novel-to-anime adaptation has been consistent through the first three installments. Every season had 13 episodes based on three light novel volumes. If Madhouse would still follow that approach, the release of volume 14 in 2020 could be a sign that the series will continue even after “Overlord” season 4.
