Just a week ago, the list of games reportedly coming to the PlayStation Plus library was leaked. Sony has now confirmed that all titles mentioned are, indeed, going to be available to download for PS Plus members in January 2022.
The said leak came from Dealabs user billbil-kun, who has been providing early details about PS Plus offers for the past several months. Of the three free games arriving next month, subscribers might want to pay close attention to Ghost Ship Games’ cooperative first-person shooter “Deep Rock Galactic.”
Aside from being offered for free for a month, the game’s inclusion in the list also marks the first time it will be available to PlayStation gamers. “Deep Rock Galactic” will launch on PS4 and PS5 more than two years since it was released on Windows PC and Xbox One.
The game lets players assume the roles of space dwarves and form a team of four to infiltrate destructible cave systems. “Deep Rock Galactic” features PvE gameplay, so the matches are more focused on completing missions as a team, such as mineral mining, gathering alien eggs, or locating lost alien equipment, instead of fighting other players.
“Deep Rock Galactic’s” official trailer for PS4 and PS5 on YouTube are now filled with comments from Windows and Xbox players encouraging PlayStation users to give it a try. The game currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating out of more than 92,000 reviews. Sony will release the free PS Plus games on Jan. 4, the same day the co-op FPS title becomes available on the PS Store.
Sony also confirmed “Persona 5 Strikers” is coming to PS Plus next month for PS4 players, which features a new story about the Phantom Thieves. The off-road racing game “Dirt 5” will also be available for free to subscribers with PS4 and PS5 consoles with more than 70 tracks based on real-life locations, such as the East River in New York.
All three games are downloadable for free via PS Plus until Feb. 1. And subscribers still have a chance to claim the free games for December 2021 until Jan. 3.
