December is going to be a good month for PlayStation Plus members now that Sony announced the lineup of new downloadable games – at no additional cost – going live next week. The list is headlined by the collection of remastered “Mass Effect” games, along with an all-new title launching directly via PS Plus.
Sony unveiled the PS Plus games for December a day after they appeared in a leak. And the company confirmed that members are, technically, getting access to a total of five titles, thanks to the inclusion of “Mass Effect Legendary Edition.”
BioWare and EA released the compilation of the remastered games from the “Mass Effect” trilogy. PS Plus members who have yet to experience these games or those who want to revisit them before the next mainline installment is released will be able to download full copies of the three games.
In the announcement post, “Mass Effect Legendary Edition” is only labelled as a PS4 game. But it can certainly work on PS5 consoles, albeit via backward compatibility only. The remasters were developed and optimized for last-gen consoles only.
PS Plus is also adding a brand-new game with “Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition” by Hi-Rez Studios. The game combines platformer and fighting gameplay elements played in the third-person perspective. As the name suggests, the playable characters are based on mythical gods, and developers said more characters would be introduced later on.
PS Plus subscribers are getting the Founder’s Edition, which costs $24.99 for non-members. Aside from the base game, it includes eight additional playable Gods and cosmetic items.
Lastly, Sony is bringing the action RPG “Biomutant” to PS Plus. The game originally launched in 2021 but had its next-gen version just last September. It features an open-world map where players have to fight mutated animals.
The monthly downloaded games are the only feature available on all PS Plus plans, including Essential. Any title acquired through it can be played for as long as the subscription is active.
The three games mentioned will be available to download starting Dec. 6 and until Jan. 2 next year. Meanwhile, the PS Plus downloadable games from November will leave the service on Dec. 5.
