Amidst swirling rumors and developer discussions at Gamescom 2024, the PS5 Pro has become a hot topic, with many anticipating an official announcement soon. Despite the absence of a reveal during the latest State of Play, industry insiders suggest that the upgraded console’s release is imminent.
Developers at Gamescom 2024 Hint at Imminent PS5 Pro Release Amidst Industry Speculation
Due to various disclosures and rumors, the PS5 Pro was the subject of much discussion throughout 2024. However, the most recent State of Play aired in late May did not include any announcements regarding the new hardware. As the summer season approaches its conclusion, some PlayStation 5 enthusiasts were still determining whether the more potent iteration had been postponed. Nevertheless, developers initiated discussions at the Gamescom 2024 event, which is currently taking place in Cologne.
In a recent live stream, the Italian website Multiplayer disclosed that it had received information from a developer indicating that the game had been postponed in anticipation of the PS5 Pro's imminent release. I heard a comparable statement during one of my appointments at Gamescom 2024.
Unprompted, a developer who shall remain anonymous disclosed that they had obtained the specifications of the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would function significantly more efficiently on the upgraded hardware than on the standard PlayStation 5.
