PepsiCo unveiled a new flavor for some of its leading snack products in the United Kingdom. The beverage and snack manufacturing giant launched the Extra Flamin’ hot flavor for its Doritos, Walkers Max, and Wotsits Crunchy line of chips.
Why PepsiCo Chose the Spicy Flavor
PepsiCo released these new hot snack items for the UK market. According to Trend Hunter, the new Extra Flamin’ Doritos, Walkers Max, and Wotsits Crunchy chips were created in response to the growing interest of customers in extra spicy food.
Moreover, the company said the decision to add these spicy snacks to its portfolio builds on the continued success of the brands and product category. PepsiCo expects the newly launched flavor to be a hit and patronized by customers who want to spice up their usual snacking times.
"Shoppers are looking for elevated snacking experiences and intense flavors, so we are turning up the heat with this launch,” Rob Pothier, Doritos’ senior marketing manager, commented about the new Extra Flamin’ Hot chips. “We can’t wait to bring Extra Flamin’ Hot to the UK, and given the response we’ve already seen worldwide, we’re certain shoppers will be just as excited."
Availability and Price Details
Better Retailing reported that, based on data from Ipsos Research, 51% of customers in the U.K. said they love spicy food, and the region is currently the second-highest in Europe in terms of deep liking for spice. Thus, the area is ideal for offering the new flamin hot snacks.
Pothier also said they are confident that the new extra spicy Doritos and Walkers Max will drive sales, as buyers will keep returning for more. At any rate, the Extra Flamin’ Hot flavor will be available in grocery stores and other retail outlets in the U.K. on March 18.
A 163-gram bag of Doritos and Walkers Max costs £2.50, while the 130-gram bag costs only £1.25. Meanwhile, as the new spicy flavor enters the market, the existing Flamin’ Hot variant of Cheetos and Wotsits Giants will be rebranded as “Sweet & Spicy Flamin’ Hot.”
