PepsiCo is releasing a new drink under the Rockstar Energy brand. This is a unique energy drink as it is infused with hemp seed oil and vitamin B.
PepsiCo's newest drink offering is officially called the Rockstar Unplugged, and the snack and beverage manufacturing company's goal for launching this is to provide consumers with a kind of drink that will help them chill out. As mentioned on CNBC, aside from the hemp seed oil, the new energy drink also contains lemon balm, spearmint, and around 80 mg. of caffeine.
With Rockstar Unplugged, PepsiCo is looking to attract the younger generations, especially females. This is because the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health revealed that men between the ages of 18 and 34 years are the leading drinkers of energy drinks. Thus, the company is also aiming to catch the attention of women to have more customers who will patronize the new beverage.
Rockstar Unplugged was described as a drink that will not only provide more energy but can also enhance good vibes. It can uplift any mood on any occasion as drinkers can fully enjoy the fruity flavor with zest.
"With Rockstar Unplugged, we continue the brand's heritage in driving culture while delivering innovation to the category," PepsiCo's general manager and chief marketing officer of the energy drink category, Fabiola Torres, said in a press release. "Ninety-one percent of our consumers told us they wanted a beverage that lifts their mood. Rockstar Unplugged delivers the ingredients consumers have been asking for, creating an opportunity for us to transform the category and introduce new consumers to our energy portfolio."
The Rockstar Unplugged energy drinks are set to be sold in slim 12-ounce cans. Customers can choose from three available flavors, and these are passion fruit, blueberry, and raspberry cucumber. It will be on the grocery shelves across the U.S. starting Tuesday, Feb. 1. The suggested retail price for each can is $1.99.
Meanwhile, while foods and drinks with hemp seed are not banned in the U.S., There are countries that prohibit the sale of such food items because many think that hemp is a CBD or a cannabinoids substance in cannabis plants. But there are differences between actual cannabis and hemp seeds, and of them is that the latter has very little to no CBD content at all, so they cannot be compared.
