Plant-based eggs are here, and unlike the other types, this one is more ideal since it can be cooked in different ways like scrambled or be used in cooking other dishes and baking. This new vegan alternative is now in the United States and was launched by Canada-based Nabati Foods.
The product is being marketed in the U.S. as Nabati Plant Eggz, and they are being sold for $6.99 via e-commerce sites. The plant-based eggs were launched on Aug. 30 and are available across the country.
Customers can buy the Nabati Plant Eggz in 355 ml. bottles as they are in liquid form. As mentioned on Food Navigator, each serving of this new liquid plant-based egg contains 100 calories with no cholesterol. It also has 6 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber. As for the nutrients and vitamins that this new product offers, it includes vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B12, riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid.
The vegan eggs in liquid form were made with pea protein and lupin, and it was first introduced in Canada not long ago. They are so versatile that they can be cooked in various ways, just like the regular eggs, they cannot just be scrambled but fried as omelets and quiches too.
In any case, the launch of these plant-based liquid eggs in the U.S. comes only three months after Nabati Foods finally completed its production plant in Canada that is said to cost $7.7 million. It was said that the company built its facility in Alberta, and it is five times bigger than its first factory. Aside from the vegan eggs, Nabati Foods will also be producing plant-based cheese and other products here, and it may include meat for an expansion later.
Meanwhile, the alternative food manufacturer promises customers that the Nabati Plant Eggz will be very similar to the real eggs since it was created to duplicate the taste, texture, and consistency of the chicken eggs. Nabati Foods also said that this is gluten and soy-free, so it is safe for everyone.
“We spent a lot of time thinking about the experience of cooking the product when we were developing it,” Ahmad Yehya, Nabati Foods chief executive officer, said in a press release. “We don’t want anyone to feel that they are missing out when they choose to go plant-based. Unlike other plant-based liquid eggs, our product is both soy-free and gluten-free, and we created this product to be free from most common allergens.”
