'Pokemon Go' News, Updates: Massive Gen 4 Evolutions Leak May Just Be Around the Corner; Here's What You Can Expect

“Pokemon Go” fans still loyal to Niantic's monster hunting augmented reality game may be in for a treat next week. Much like any popular game with fans anticipating each and every update, “Pokemon Go” has its fair share of speculation based on what new features they expect the developers to improve. Speculation breeds information leaks, which the “Pokemon Go” has in spades.

Known “Pokemon Go” feature leaker u/HiddenLeaker posted once again on the game's subreddit a potential evolution event. The post details that the event will potentially introduce Gen 4 evolutions of a lot of previous-generation Pokemon.

For those not familiar with Gen 4 evolutions, these include Pokemon such as Magmortar, Electivire, and Rhyperior. These Pokemon are evolutions of Magmar, Electabuzz, and Rhydon, respectively.

The event will supposedly also give players double experience for evolving their Pokemon and spinning pokestops. Third-generation evolutions will be released into the wild as well, making them capturable by players rather than forcing an evolution to acquire.

An interesting addition that the "Pokemon Go" Gen 4 evolution event might bring will be the inclusion of additional items which will help pokemon to evolve. Previously, evolution was simply a matter of acquiring a certain number of candies to evolve certain Pokemon. More specific Pokemon already make use of certain evolution items, but the potentially expanding number of evolution items may be Niantic preparing for a new feature that players have yet to get wind of.

While the news seems exciting, the leak will have to be taken with a grain of salt this time. Historically, translators of the game to different localities have been the source of leaks and Niantic may be cracking down on giving out too much information to translators.

While u/HiddenLeaker may have a consistent history of providing reliable leaks such as the Water Festival event almost a year ago, Niantic's security measures may affect the quality of the leak. Fans will have to wait and see if u/HiddenLeaker is right about his “Pokemon Go” Gen 4 leak this time around.
